NAOMI’S STORY…
Naomi Gary first got involved in elder care in the mid-1990s when a Sunrise Assisted Living building went up next to her daughter’s elementary school and she thought “I could walk to work”! So, she got a job at the front desk as a concierge. From there she learned how to do direct care giving and eventually became a manager of the dementia unit.
Soon Naomi realized she needed to learn more and went back to school for her master’s degree. She graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2003 with a Master’s in Public Administration Health Services.
Over the years, Naomi was a Marketing Director, Activity Director and eventually an Administrator in various Assisted Living communities in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She worked closely with various hospices and end-of-life caregivers.
Eventually, she moved back to her hometown of San Diego to care for her aging parents. In 2017, they died at home on hospice at the age of 95 within a month and a half of each other. It was exactly as they had hoped. It was a Good Death!
Naomi moved to Bellingham WA in 2019 and recently started her own business as an end-of-life coach, patient advocate, and advance care planning facilitator. She is a licensed Notary Public.
